"America Singing" Presented by Malinda DeRouen and Mahi Shah with Palenke Arts 12/15 at 5:30pm butterfly

Local Singer and Actress Malinda DeRouen and Youth Laureate Mahi Shah with Palenke Arts Present “America Singing” Friday, December 15th at 5:30pm.
 

The exhibition “Ourselves We Sing: A call and response with Walt Whitman” with series of special events will close January 5th. This performance is the finale of a series of five featuring ethnically diverse poetic responses, special installations and advocacy tables.  

Youth Laureate Mahi Shah's poetry performance will include a debut poem. Local Singer and Actress Malinda DeRouen's vocal performance will be accompanied by brother Paul DeRouen. The Palenke Arts Bilingual Chorus will join them to present “America Singing”, the finale event of the "Ourselves We Sing" series and fine art exhibition.

Malinda DeRouen is a local singer, actress, narrator and chorus instructor at Palenke Arts. 
 
Mahi Shah, a student of Hartnell College and Notre Dame High School, was selected as the Inaugural Monterey County Youth Poet Laureate.
