Borrowing & HOLDS:

Pacific Grove Library cards are free and can be issued online or in person. To learn more about the application process, click here.

In April of 2022, City Council approved the removal of overdue fines and forgiveness of current outstanding fines. This action ensures that our public library is living up to its commitment to provide free and equal access to information, knowledge, independent learning and the joys of reading for our community.

Items still have a return date and the library encourages patrons to return them in a timely fashion so others may enjoy. Most materials can be checked out for three weeks and may be renewed three times if there is no waiting list for them. Art prints can be checked out for 120 days.

Fees are charged for lost and damaged materials:

  • Lost library cards: $3.00
  • Lost or damaged library materials: Replacement cost of the item.
